What To Expect

Nelson's Dockyard
The boat tour will begin and end from Nelson's Dockyard, offering you the opportunity to see this historic area and the surrounding English Harbour from the sea. During the tour we will pass Freemans Bay and Galleon beach, keeping an eye out for Sea Turtles, and visit the Pillars of Hercules with views towards Monserrat and its active volcano and on a clear day the French Island of Guadeloupe. Along the way we'll view nature and wildlife - occasionally dolphins - and guests will be provided with tour narration to learn about the history and culture of the area. Learn about the History of the beautiful Georgian Dockyard and Admiral Lord Nelson's time here. Nelson called it his 'Hell hole'! Why was he here with the Royal Navy? Stay cool with sea breezes while relaxing and tour the harbour in comfort.
When available, try the Navy rum drink, Grog, compulsory for Naval ratings, half a pint, twice a day. This practice was only discontinued in 1970.

We didn’t have to queue or wait for the boat to fill up - there were only 4 of us and the Captain provided excellent English info about the Harbour and the beautiful boats there. We went out to the entrance to the harbour - the tour was about 1/2 hr in a renovated old lifeboat! Very enjoyable.
Fascinating boat trip.

Best and safest way, from the water and in a lifeboat, to see and learn about the historic and fascinating English harbour. Thank you Steve, we have recommended you to the other guests at our hotel. Best wishes for the future.
